What attendees are saying
Before this workshop, I needed to review the rules and appreciated the grammar-driven approach. I appreciated the supportive, authentic atmosphere.
—Michael A.
I had previously been avoiding the subjunctive because I was overwhelmed by it. During the workshop, Natalie explained when, why, and how to use the subjunctive in a way that was very digestible and easy to understand. I feel like I leveled up on my French learning journey after taking this workshop. I am now able to express so many more ideas in French, including my emotions, desires, and doubts!
—Crissy M.
The information was laid out in a clear and concise manner. I still have the worksheets printed out on my desk. I also enjoyed interacting with the other students during our practice sessions.
—Jon F.
Very well organized. Questions were answered. I love how Dr. Natalie helps us understand the French language and explains very clearly how/when to use the subjunctive. She is very encouraging because she was once learning too!
—Valerie S.
As always, I am impressed with the casual, safe, relaxed approach that Natalie has to teaching French. The explanations are wonderful and finally **just like that** the subjunctive became clear to me!

Une note de
Dr. Nat
I remember the “subjunctive chapter” year after year in French class. After the first time, I felt confident conjugating it while writing. After the second time, I could use “Il faut que,” but I still wasn’t sure when to use the subjunctive with doubt or emotion. It wasn’t until 5 years of learning French that I felt confident using the subjunctive in my everyday speech.
But this doesn’t have to be you!
I was perplexed by the way that grammar was taught in the French classes I took. There was no emphasis on being able to actually use the grammar in real conversation.
If your French schooling experience was anything like mine, maybe you’re in the same boat.
This lack of practical grammar guidance is what inspired me to pursue a PhD in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching from the University of Arizona.
My mission today is to give you the tools you need to speak French on your next trip to France or Québec or in your next work meeting with a Francophone.
This workshop, Mastering the Subjunctive in Everyday French, is your chance to take the leap into speaking French more fluidly and naturally!
I always say “You can’t learn to speak French without speaking French,” and this holds true when it comes to using the subjunctive to speak about your dreams, desires, doubts, and needs.
J’ai trop hâte de te rencontrer et je sais que tu peux le faire!
I’m so excited to meet you and I know that you can do it!
Dr. Natalie
